At Malvern College Hong Kong, we embrace the Unit of Inquiry as a fundamental approach to teaching and learning within the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum. This method encourages pupils to explore significant themes that inspire curiosity, critical thinking, and a deeper understanding of the world around them.
What is Unit of Inquiry?
Unit of Inquiry is a pedagogical framework designed to engage pupils in meaningful and relevant learning experiences. Through structured Units of Inquiry, pupils investigate a specific theme or concept over a period of 6-8 weeks. This approach allows them to connect different subject areas, fostering interdisciplinary learning and enabling them to view challenges from multiple perspectives.
How It Works in the IB Curriculum
Within the IB curriculum, each Unit of Inquiry is thoughtfully designed to incorporate knowledge, skills, and attitudes across various disciplines. Pupils are encouraged to take an active role in their learning, developing inquiry skills that promote research, collaboration, and self-directed exploration.
