Professor Ivan Hung Fan Ngai is Chair Professor of Infectious Diseases & Vaccinology and Associate Dean at the LKS Faculty of Medicine, The University of Hong Kong, and Honorary Consultant at Queen Mary Hospital. A dual specialist in Infectious Diseases and Gastroenterology & Hepatology, Professor Hung earned his medical degree from the University of Bristol and completed his training in the UK before returning to Hong Kong in 1999.

Throughout his distinguished career, Professor Hung has received numerous accolades, including the Anti-SARS Gold Badge, the Sir Patrick Manson Gold Medal, the Richard Yu Lectureship, and the University of Hong Kong’s Outstanding Researcher Award. He is a Fellow of the Royal Colleges of Physicians (London and Edinburgh) and the Infectious Disease Society of America.

With an H-index of 73 and over 400 international peer-reviewed articles in journals such as The Lancet and Nature, Professor Hung is a leading authority on antiviral treatments and vaccinology, with a primary research focus on influenza, SARS-CoV-2, and respiratory viruses.
